Jon Hale

Jon Hale paints as often as he can. He works in acrylics.

Jon was born in 1956. He achieved "A" Level Fine Art at Caterham School where he was taught by John Bleach, now of Purley, Surrey. He did not paint again until 1996, when he was tutored by portrait painter Richard Smith, of Godstone, Surrey.

Apart from his two tutors, Jon is influenced in his work by his twin careers as clergyman, and, before he was ordained, the world of mining in North East England. Urban landscapes, railway landscapes, poster art, the work of 20th Century colourists, the strange intersection of two worlds at railway level crossings, the wonder of colour and light, and the natural forms of fruit, flowers and vegetables: all these are inspiration and subject matter for him.

All the paintings illustrated on this site are for sale. Click on the individual pictures for details. Jon currently lives in Crawley Down, West Sussex. Any purchases can be collected or Jon can arrange delivery to any address in the UK.
